Strawberries run counter to the European summer on purpose. Huelva in Spain, the Nile delta in Egypt and the Loukkos in Morocco all ship through the Northern Hemisphere winter and early spring, into the months when nothing local is fruiting.

Very little of the fresh crop goes by sea. Strawberries have a shelf life measured in days, so fresh volume moves by truck and by air, and the sea trade is frozen fruit going to processors. That distinction matters when reading this calendar: the window is the harvest, not a container programme.

Morocco

December–March peak · April, November shoulder Load ports: Agadir, Casablanca, and Tanger Med

Roughly December to March out of the Loukkos, around Larache and Moulay Bousselham, peaking in February. It opens ahead of the Moroccan blueberry window in the same region and closes as that one is getting going, which is how the same growers run both.

Roughly November to April out of the Nile delta, on the same counter-season logic as the Spanish and Moroccan crops.

Roughly January to June out of Huelva, which supplies most of the European fresh strawberry market in the first half of the year.
