Last reviewed August 2026. Windows are editorial ranges for a normal year, not a published schedule, and they are export weeks out of Mexico rather than arrival weeks in your market.
Mexico is the origin where the calendar matters least and the routing matters most. Avocados and limes ship close to year-round rather than in a season, so the question an importer is really asking is not “is it available” but “which window is cheap, and which is the one everybody else is buying in too”.
It is also the origin where most volume never touches a container. The overwhelming share of Mexican produce reaches the United States by truck across the land border; what leaves by sea is the volume going to Europe, Japan and increasingly China, out of Manzanillo and Lázaro Cárdenas on the Pacific side and Veracruz on the Gulf. The windows below are the export windows for the crop, and they apply whichever way the fruit travels — but if you are importing into Europe, the sea programme is a subset of what the crop calendar shows.
Avocado
October–March peak · April–September shoulder Varieties: Hass
Effectively year-round. The main Michoacán crop peaks from about October to March, and the flor loca — the off-bloom crop — carries the middle of the year at lower volume.
Mexico is the reason there is no global avocado season. It also means that when Peru’s window opens in April, European buyers are choosing between origins on price rather than on availability, which is not true of most produce on this page.
Lime
May–September peak · October–April shoulder Varieties: Persian
Year-round, peaking through the Northern Hemisphere summer when the trees produce most and demand is highest at the same time.
Availability is not the risk on limes; price is. Weather in Veracruz or Michoacán moves the market inside a week, and a programme priced in March can look very different by July.
Mango
March–July peak · February, August shoulder Varieties: Ataulfo, Kent, Tommy Atkins
Roughly March to July, moving north through the growing regions as the season progresses — Chiapas first, Sinaloa last. Ataulfo is the variety Mexico is known for; Kent and Tommy Atkins carry the export volume.
The window picks up almost exactly where Peru’s and Ecuador’s finish, which is what lets a buyer run a mango programme across the whole year with three origins.
Raspberry
November–April peak · May, October shoulder
Roughly November to April out of Jalisco and Michoacán, counter-season to Northern Hemisphere production. Blackberries and strawberries run on much the same calendar.
Almost none of this moves by sea. Soft berries have a shelf life measured in days, so the volume goes by air or by truck into the United States; a sea programme exists but is small and demands everything go right.
Table grapes
May–July peak · April, August shoulder Varieties: Flame, Sugraone
Roughly May to July out of Sonora, a short Northern Hemisphere window that lands between the end of the Chilean programme and the start of the Californian one.
Most of it crosses the land border rather than sailing. What does ship by sea goes to Asia rather than Europe, where Chile and Peru already cover the calendar.
Asparagus
February–April peak · January, May shoulder
Roughly February to May out of Caborca in Sonora, a short northern window that fills the months when Peruvian volume is at its lowest.
Most of it trucks north rather than sailing or flying, which is the advantage of the window: the freight question Peru argues about does not really arise here.
Importing out of Mexico? Trackberry tracks those containers and reads the paperwork that arrives with them, in one place. Book a 20-minute chat.
