Honduras is a one-port origin, and Puerto Cortés is the reason it works. It is the deepest and best-connected container port on the Central American Caribbean coast, close enough to the US Gulf that a reefer can be discharged within days rather than weeks — which is what makes short-shelf-life vegetable programmes viable from here at all.
