Fresh figs out of Turkey run from about August to October, from Aydın and from Bursa, and the window is genuinely short — this is one of the few crops on the calendar with no storage tail at all. Turkey is the largest exporter of figs in the world, but that figure is mostly dried fruit, which is a different trade in a different box and is not what this window describes.

Fresh figs are the most fragile thing in this section. They bruise where they are touched, they split if the humidity moves, and their shelf life is measured in days, so the volume reaching Europe goes by refrigerated truck and the long-haul trade goes by air. Read this window for what it does to the market rather than as a container programme — and if you are shipping figs by sea, the transit is the entire specification.

Roughly August and September, from Aydın and from Bursa, opening in July and finishing in October. There is no storage tail: fresh figs do not wait.
