Emails without container numbers now stay organised
Previously, when a freight forwarder sent an automated notification that didn’t include a container number — like a “Shipment received” alert — Trackberry would create a new shipment with no container, no tracking, and no way to connect it to your real cargo. These ghost shipments would silently pile up in your list.
As of today, those emails are handled properly.
What’s new
When an inbound email can’t be matched to an existing shipment and contains no container number, Trackberry now flags it as Needs Assignment instead of creating a regular (but useless) draft shipment.
These appear in a dedicated blue section at the top of your shipments page, clearly separate from the main list.
For each one you get three options:
- Assign to a shipment — Pick the correct shipment from a dropdown. Trackberry moves all documents and messages over and processes any new attachments. The placeholder disappears.
- View — Read the email body and review attachments before deciding.
- Delete — Remove it if it’s irrelevant or misdirected.
What this fixes
- Freight forwarder “receipt” notifications no longer create junk shipments
- Documents attached to those emails (packing lists, arrival notices) are no longer lost — they get moved to the right shipment when you assign it
- Your main shipments list stays clean
Tip
If a specific forwarder regularly sends emails without container numbers, ask them to include the container number in the subject line (e.g. MSCU 123456 7). Trackberry will then match future emails automatically — no manual assignment needed.
