Comparison
A Shippeo alternative for fresh produce importers
Shippeo is the European answer to project44, and a good one. It is also built for Renault and Carrefour, and it grew up on road. Two facts that decide most of this comparison before anyone mentions features.

Multimodal at enterprise scale
"Track every shipment, know every ETA, act with confidence" is the promise, and the coverage behind it is road in full truckload and less-than-truckload, ocean, rail, air, and ports and terminals, across 28 countries. The customers on the page are automotive, FMCG and retail — Renault Group, Coca-Cola HBC, Carrefour Belgium, Leroy Merlin. Pricing is not published.
Read that as a description of a buyer and the picture is a manufacturer or a grocery chain with a road network to keep honest. A produce importer's problem is narrower and stranger: a handful of long ocean lanes, cargo with a shelf life, and a packing list from a grower that somebody is retyping. A platform serving automotive alongside FMCG has no commercial reason to read that file, and does not claim to.
Scale against specialisation
| The job | Shippeo | Trackberry |
|---|---|---|
| Who it is built for | Large European shippers — automotive, FMCG, retail, across 28 countries. | Fresh produce importers, most of them under a hundred people. |
| Centre of gravity | Road, FTL and LTL, with ocean, rail, air and terminals alongside. | Ocean reefers on a handful of long import lanes. |
| Documents | Not described on its site. | Packing lists, bills of lading, certificates and invoices read out of the inbox. |
| Perishables | Not described on its site. | Export seasons, setpoints off the B/L, arrival inspections per pallet. |
| Buying it | Book a demo, talk to an expert, no published price. | Free while in beta, then €10 a container. You talk to the people building it. |
| Road coverage | The core of the product. | Stops at the CMR that arrives with the container. |
When Shippeo is the right platform
Real cases, and more common than the ones where we are.
- Road freight across Europe is a large part of what you move, and you need it visible at scale.
- You are a manufacturer or a retailer where produce is one category among many.
- You need multimodal coverage — rail and air alongside ocean — as first-class features.
- You have procurement, security review and vendor requirements that a beta product will not satisfy.
- You operate in enough countries that pan-European carrier coverage is the deciding factor.
What it costs
One of these tells you the price.
Shippeo
Not published
No published pricing; the calls to action are "Book a demo" and "Talk to an expert". Multi-country road coverage at enterprise scale is not sold from a price list.
Trackberry
Free in beta, then €10 / container
No card and no commitment while we are in beta. €10 per container once the beta ends — you pay for containers that ship, not for seats or a monthly subscription. ERP integration is a one-off from €2,000 plus maintenance from €50 a month, quoted against the system you already run. All prices exclude VAT.
Questions buyers ask
- Is Shippeo a competitor?
- In the same sense project44 is: a serious platform, sold to a much larger company. Its named customers are Renault Group, Coca-Cola HBC, Carrefour Belgium and Leroy Merlin, across 28 countries. If both are on your shortlist, one of them is there by mistake.
- It is European. Does that not make it closer to us?
- Closer than the American platforms, yes, and it matters less than it sounds. The distance is the size of buyer and the centre of gravity: Shippeo grew up on road freight and covers ocean alongside rail, air and terminals. Produce import is an ocean problem with a paperwork problem attached.
- We move a lot by truck as well. Then what?
- Then look at them. Multi-country road visibility at scale is what they are built for, and we do not compete with it — our road coverage stops at the CMR that arrives with the container.
- What does Shippeo cost?
- Not published. The calls to action are "Book a demo" and "Talk to an expert", which is the usual shape of enterprise procurement and tells you something about the size of buyer the product assumes.

If it is reefers and paperwork
Twenty minutes with your own container numbers and one grower's file. That is the narrow problem, and narrow is the whole argument.
